Reflections Of A Proud Pedestrian Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL

I saw the curl of his waving lashA
And the glance of his knowing eyeB
And I knew that he thought he was cutting a dashA
As his steed went thundering byB
-
And he may ride in the rattling gigC
Or flourish the Stanhope gayD
And dream that he looks exceeding bigC
To the people that walk in the wayD
-
But he shall think when the night is stillE
On the stable boy s gathering numbersF
And the ghost of many a veteran billE
Shall hover around his slumbersF
-
The ghastly dun shall worry his sleepG
And constables cluster around himH
And he shall creep from the wood hole deepG
Where their spectre eyes have found himH
-
Ay gather your reins and crack your thongI
And bid your steed go fasterJ
He does not know as he scrambles alongI
That he has a fool for his masterJ
-
And hurry away on your lonely rideK
Nor deign from the mire to save meL
I will paddle it stoutly at your sideK
With the tandem that nature gave meL
