Our Limitations Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE FFGGHH

WE trust and fear we question and believeA
From life's dark threads a trembling faith to weaveA
Frail as the web that misty night has spunB
Whose dew gemmed awnings glitter in the sunB
While the calm centuries spell their lessons outC
Each truth we conquer spreads the realm of doubtC
When Sinai's summit was Jehovah's throneD
The chosen Prophet knew his voice aloneD
When Pilate's hall that awful question heardE
The Heavenly Captive answered not a wordE
-
Eternal Truth beyond our hopes and fearsF
Sweep the vast orbits of thy myriad spheresF
From age to age while History carves sublimeG
On her waste rock the flaming curves of timeG
How the wild swayings of our planet showH
That worlds unseen surround the world we knowH
