In Vita Minerva Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ

VEX not the Muse with idle prayersA
She will not hear thy callB
She steals upon thee unawaresA
Or seeks thee not at allB
-
Soft as the moonbeams when they soughtC
Endymion's fragrant bowerD
She parts the whispering leaves of thoughtC
To show her full blown flowerD
-
For thee her wooing hour has passedE
The singing birds have flownF
And winter comes with icy blastE
To chill thy buds unblownF
-
Yet though the woods no longer thrillG
As once their arches rungH
Sweet echoes hover round thee stillG
Of songs thy summer sungH
-
Live in thy past await no moreI
The rush of heaven sent wingsJ
Earth still has music left in storeI
While Memory sighs and singsJ
