Hymn For The Class-meeting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD BBEE BBFF GGHH

THOU Gracious Power whose mercy lendsA
The light of home the smile of friendsA
Our gathered flock thine arms infoldB
As in the peaceful days of oldB
-
Wilt thou not hear us while we raiseC
In sweet accord of solemn praiseC
The voices that have mingled longD
In joyous flow of mirth and songD
-
For all the blessings life has broughtB
For all its sorrowing hours have taughtB
For all we mourn for all we keepE
The hands we clasp the loved that sleepE
-
The noontide sunshine of the pastB
These brief bright moments fading fastB
The stars that gild our darkening yearsF
The twilight ray from holier spheresF
-
We thank thee Father let thy graceG
Our narrowing circle still embraceG
Thy mercy shed its heavenly storeH
Thy peace be with us evermoreH
