Departed Days Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEF GHBHIJKJ

Yes dear departed cherished daysA
Could Memory s hand restoreB
Your morning light your evening raysA
From Time s gray urn once moreB
Then might this restless heart be stillC
This straining eye might closeD
And Hope her fainting pinions foldE
While the fair phantoms roseF
-
But like a child in ocean s armsG
We strive against the streamH
Each moment farther from the shoreB
Where life s young fountains gleamH
Each moment fainter wave the fieldsI
And wider rolls the seaJ
The mist grows dark the sun goes downK
Day breaks and where are weJ
