At The Summit Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCCA DDCCEEED FFGGHHHF

Sister we bid you welcome we who standA
On the high table landA
We who have climbed life's slippery Alpine slopeB
And rest still leaning on the staff of hopeB
Looking along the silent Mer de GlaceC
Leading our footsteps where the dark crevasseC
Yawns in the frozen sea we all must passC
Sister we clasp your handA
-
Rest with us in the hour that Heaven has lentD
Before the swift descentD
Look the warm sunbeams kiss the glittering iceC
See next the snow drift blooms the edelweissC
The mated eagles fan the frosty airE
Life beauty love around us everywhereE
And in their time the darkening hours that bearE
Sweet memories peace contentD
-
Thrice welcome shining names our missals showF
Amid their rubrics' glowF
But search the blazoned record's starry lineG
What halo's radiance fills the page like thineG
Thou who by some celestial clue couldst findH
The way to all the hearts of all mankindH
On thee already canonized enshrinedH
What more can Heaven bestowF
