Rhyme Scheme: ABAAAC DEDDDEALONE beneath the darkened sky | A |
With saddened heart and unstrung lyre | B |
I heap the spoils of years gone by | A |
And leave them with a long drawn sigh | A |
Like drift wood brands that glimmering lie | A |
Before the ashes hide the fire | C |
- | |
Let not these slow declining days | D |
The rosy light of dawn outlast | E |
Still round my lonely hearth it plays | D |
And gilds the east with borrowed rays | D |
While memory's mirrored sunset blaze | D |
Flames on the windows of the past | E |
