Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK BLBL M

TO J R LOWELLA
-
WE will not speak of years to nightB
For what have years to bringC
But larger floods of love and lightB
And sweeter songs to singC
-
We will not drown in wordy praiseD
The kindly thoughts that riseE
If Friendship own one tender phraseD
He reads it in our eyesE
-
We need not waste our school boy artF
To gild this notch of TimeG
Forgive me if my wayward heartF
Has throbbed in artless rhymeG
-
Enough for him the silent graspH
That knits us hand in handI
And he the bracelet's radiant claspH
That locks our circling bandI
-
Strength to his hours of manly toilJ
Peace to his starlit dreamsK
Who loves alike the furrowed soilJ
The music haunted streamsK
-
Sweet smiles to keep forever brightB
The sunshine on his lipsL
And faith that sees the ring of lightB
Round nature's last eclipseL
-
FebruaryM
