America To Russia (songs Of Welcome And Farewell) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ FKFK LMLM NKNK OPOP QRQR

Though watery deserts hold apartA
The worlds of East and WestB
Still beats the selfsame human heartA
In each proud Nation's breastB
-
Our floating turret tempts the mainC
And dares the howling blastD
To clasp more close the golden chainC
That long has bound them fastD
-
In vain the gales of ocean sweepE
In vain the billows roarF
That chafe the wild and stormy steepE
Of storied ElsinoreF
-
She comes She comes her banners dipG
In Neva's flashing tideH
With greetings on her cannon's lipG
The storm god's iron brideH
-
Peace garlands with the olive boughI
Her thunder bearing towerJ
And plants before her cleaving prowI
The sea foam's milk white flowerJ
-
No prairies heaped their garnered storeF
To fill her sunless holdK
Not rich Nevada's gleaming oreF
Its hidden caves infoldK
-
But lightly as the sea bird swingsL
She floats the depths aboveM
A breath of flame to lend her wingsL
Her freight a people's loveM
-
When darkness hid the starry skiesN
In war's long winter nightK
One ray still cheered our straining eyesN
The far off Northern lightK
-
And now the friendly rays returnO
From lights that glow afarP
Those clustered lamps of Heaven that burnO
Around the Western StarP
-
A nation's love in tears and smilesQ
We bear across the seaR
O Neva of the banded islesQ
We moor our hearts in theeR
