Added For The Alumni Meeting, June 29, Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH

So the gray Boatswain of 'Twenty nineA
Piped to The Boys as they crossed the lineA
Round the cabin sat thirty guestsB
Babes of the nurse with a thousand breastsB
-
There were the judges grave and grandC
Flanked by the priests on either handC
There was the lord of wealth untoldD
And the dear good fellow in broadcloth oldD
-
Thirty men from twenty townsE
Sires and grandsires with silvered crownsE
Thirty school boys all in a rowF
Bens and Georges and Bill and JoeF
-
In thirty goblets the wine was pouredG
But threescore gathered around the boardG
For lo at the side of every chairH
A shadow hovered we all were thereH
