A Parody On -a Psalm Of Life Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIB

Life is real life is earnestA
And the shell is not its penB
Egg thou art and egg remainestA
Was not spoken of the henB
-
Art is long and Time is fleetingC
Be our bills then sharpened wellD
And not like muffled drums be beatingC
On the inside of the shellD
-
In the world s broad field of battleE
In the great barnyard of lifeF
Be not like those lazy cattleE
Be a rooster in the strifeF
-
Lives of roosters all remind usG
We can make our lives sublimeH
And when roasted leave behind usG
Hen tracks on the sands of timeH
-
Hen tracks that perhaps anotherI
Chicken drooping in the rainJ
Some forlorn and henpecked brotherI
When he sees shall crow againB
