A Noontide Lyric Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIHJKLK MNONPHQH RSASTUV IWXWYZA2Z

THE dinner bell the dinner bellA
Is ringing loud and clearB
Through hill and plain through street and laneC
It echoes far and nearB
From curtained hall and whitewashed stallD
Wherever men can hideE
Like bursting waves from ocean cavesF
They float upon the tideE
-
I smell the smell of roasted meatG
I hear the hissing fryH
The beggars know where they can goI
But where oh where shall IH
At twelve o'clock men took my handJ
At two they only stareK
And eye me with a fearful lookL
As if I were a bearK
-
The poet lays his laurels downM
And hastens to his greensN
The happy tailor quits his gooseO
To riot on his beansN
The weary cobbler snaps his threadP
The printer leaves his piH
His very devil hath a homeQ
But what oh what have IH
-
Methinks I hear an angel voiceR
That softly seems to sayS
'Pale stranger all may yet be wellA
Then wipe thy tears awayS
Erect thy head and cock thy hatT
And follow me afarU
And thou shalt have a jolly mealV
And charge it at the bar '-
-
I hear the voice I go I goI
Prepare your meat and wineW
They little heed their future needX
Who pay not when they dineW
Give me to day the rosy bowlY
Give me one golden dreamZ
To morrow kick away the stoolA2
And dangle from the beamZ
