Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSK TUTTVTWTX Y ZKFWWA2

The very balanced way which pans and basinsA
Sat on the perfectly placed 'aju'B
On the head of Igbo girls my age sometimes twice hawkingC
The unperturbed reassuring words of a mentorD
The solemn faces of mass serversE
Bowing and genuflecting in an impressive unisonF
The lingering wetness of the earthen clayG
After the first rain meets with the cracked beneathH
The shock that slowly stretched into a say it all smileI
On getting to know about my achieved featsJ
The long loud roar of variations of laughterK
That succeeded all of my goofy jokesL
The way my silence reprimanded people on behalf of my angered voiceM
The pitiful jerking of the killed 'okuko' at ChristmasN
How adults took notice of how sedulous I wasO
The ease with which my discipline magnets trustP
Pity uncalled for especially when illQ
The thickness of my lashes the vibe after work outsR
That rush of accomplishmentS
When I comfort a sad friend when I share the last bit of my 'udara'K
Or when I make a small child smile so wide their lips met their earsT
The unmistakable taste of 'okpa' and 'akamu'U
The obvious ardour of archersT
The goosebumps I got from watching pianist's rapid fingersT
The smell of incense that lasted well beyond consecration at our Catholic ChurchV
The smallish nature of rabbits and fury feel of puppiesT
How sweet it was to pronounce Mozambique Yugoslavia and LewandoskiW
The originality of Achebe's and Adichie's worksT
The pattern and sweet fitting of clouds plastered in the clear blue skyX

Is what I really like about lifeY

The Igbo words are translated belowZ

Poet's note: I wrote this poem sometime last year when I was going through some self realization stage. This poem is an ultimate reflection of the poet (myself) as it seems to appreciate the tiny details of the big picture of life. Everytime I read this poem, it makes me feel like there's still hope and that there's still good stuff out there. It also makes me feel like I can find love anywhere. I want this poem to express love- love for anything and everything.
