Jogging Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNEMOPQB RSTFUV

We stood in columnsA
like sheep before slaughterB
we ran breathlessC
We scrambled to kissD
the shoes of the killersE
They stole Jesus the son of MaryF
while he was an infant stillG
They stole from us the memory of the orange treesH
and the apricots and the mintI
and the candles in the mosquesJ
In our hands they leftK
a sardine can called GazaL
and a dry bone called JerichoM
They left us a body with no bonesN
A hand with no fingersE
After this secret romance in OsloM
we came out barrenO
They gave us a homelandP
smaller than a single grain of wheatQ
a homeland to swallow without waterB
like aspirin pillsR
Oh we dreamed of a green peaceS
and a white crescentT
and a blue seaF
Now we find ourselvesU
on a dung heapV
