Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF FGHIJK

Barada oh father of all riversA
Oh horse that races the daysB
Be in our sad history a prophetC
Who receives inspiration from his lordD
Millions acknowledge you as an ArabE
Prince so pray as an imamF
-
Oh eyes of the gazelle in the desert of ShamF
Look down This is the age of lavenderG
They have detained you in the pavilions for a long timeH
We have woven tents from tearsI
God has witnessed that we have broken no promiseJ
Or secured protection for those we loveK
