Phyllida And Corydon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD CCEEBB DDFFGGHHIICCBB

In the merry month of MayA
In a morn by break of dayA
With a troop of damsels playingB
Forth I rode forsooth a mayingB
When anon by a woodsideC
Where as May was in his prideC
I espied all aloneD
Phyllida and CorydonD
-
Much ado there was God wotC
He would love and she would notC
She said never man was trueE
He says none was false to youE
He said he had loved her longB
She says Love should have no wrongB
-
Corydon would kiss her thenD
She says maids must kiss no menD
Till they do for good and allF
Then she made the shepherd callF
All the heavens to witness truthG
Never loved a truer youthG
Thus with many a pretty oathH
Yea and nay and faith and trothH
Such as silly shepherds useI
When they will not love abuseI
Love which had been long deludedC
Was with kisses sweet concludedC
And Phyllida with garlands gayB
Was made the lady of the MayB
