Phillida And Coridon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCBBDDEECCFFGGHH IIBBAA

In the merry month of MayA
In a morn by break of dayA
Forth I walk'd by the wood sideB
When as May was in his prideB
There I spi egrave d all aloneC
Phillida and CoridonC
Much ado there was God wotB
He would love and she would notB
She said Never man was trueD
He said None was false to youD
He said He had loved her longE
She said Love should have no wrongE
Coridon would kiss her thenC
She said Maids must kiss no menC
Till they did for good and allF
Then she made the shepherd callF
All the heavens to witness truthG
Never loved a truer youthG
Thus with many a pretty oathH
Yea and nay and faith and trothH
Such as silly shepherds useI
When they will not Love abuseI
Love which had been long deludedB
Was with kisses sweet concludedB
And Phillida with garlands gayA
Was made the Lady of the MayA
