The hair falling on your foreheadA
suddenly liftedB
Suddenly something stirred on the groundC
The trees are whisperingD
in the darkE
Your bare arms will be coldF
-
Far offG
where we can't seeH
the moon must be risingD
It hasn't reached us yetI
slipping through the leavesJ
to light up your shoulderK
But I knowL
a wind comes up with the moonM
The trees are whisperingD
Your bare arms will be coldF
-
From aboveN
from the branches lost in the darkE
something dropped at your feetO
You moved closer to meH
Under my hand your bare flesh is like the fuzzy skin of a fruitP
Neither a song of the heart nor common senseQ
before the trees birds and insectsR
my hand on my wife's fleshS
is thinkingD
Tonight my handT
can't read or writeU
Neither loving nor unlovingD
It's the tongue of a leopard at a springD
a grape leafV
a wolf's pawW
To move breathe eat drinkD
My hand is like a seedX
splitting open undergroundC
Neither a song of the heart nor common senseQ
neither loving nor unlovingD
My hand thinking on my wife's fleshS
is the hand of the first manY
Like a root that finds water undergroundC
it says to meH
To eat drink cold hot struggle smell colorK
not to live in order to dieZ
but to die to liveA2
-
And nowB2
as red female hair blows across my faceC2
as something stirs on the groundC
as the trees whisper in the darkD
and as the moon rises far offG
where we can't seeH
my hand on my wife's fleshS
before the trees birds and insectsR
I want the right of lifeD2
of the leopard at the spring of the seed splitting openE2
I want the right of the first manY
