Grace be with them that love our Lord Jesus Christ inA
sincerity EphesiansB
-
-
Thou saddened one whose longing eyesB
Seek quickening thoughts to gleanC
Whose views of Christ the Heavenly prizeB
Clouds often veer betweenC
That rapture which may be expressedD
By others constantlyE
Is not thine own in truth confessedD
Where is the mysteryE
-
Ask now these questions of thy soulF
My heart is it sincereG
Do I his holy name extolF
And is He truly dearG
Like Peter can I too recordH
And urge his earnest pleaE
Thou knowest all things gracious LordH
Thou knowest I love TheeE
-
There is no music like his voiceB
To this can'st thou attestD
No message makes thee so rejoiceB
As Come to me and restD
If there's been left within thine heartI
By word or deed a thornJ
Can prayer extract the cruel dartI
And heal it ere the mornJ
-
Does prayer cast out disquietudeI
And every bitter thoughtI
All hate and enmity excludeI
By Love with patience fraughtI
Or if perchance there may be foundI
A hurt that festers stillK
Is this the balm that soothes the woundI
'Twas needed 'tis God's willK
-
Is there a saint however poorL
However lowly bornJ
That earthly treasure could allureM
Thee to mistreat or scornJ
These queries are they answered wellN
Then press with joy toward HeavenO
Filled with that peace tongue cannot tellN
The sense of sin forgivenO
-
Accept your Saviour's proffered restI
Behold there's grace for theeE
All those who love Him now are blestI
Love in sincerityE
