Come beneath yon verdant branchesA
Come my own with meB
Come and there my soul will openC
Secret doors to theeB
Yonder shalt thou learn the secretsD
Deep within my breastE
Where my love upsprings eternalF
Come with pain opprestE
Yonder all the truth I'll tell theeB
Tell it thee with tearsG
Ah so long have we been partedE
Years of youth sweet yearsH
-
See'st thou the dancers floatingI
On a stream of soundE
There alone the soul entrancingI
Happiness is foundE
Magic music hark it calls usJ
Ringing wild and sweetE
One two three beloved haste theeB
Point thy dainty feetE
Now at last I feel that livingI
Is no foolish jestE
O sweet years of youth departedE
Vanished with the restE
-
Fiddler play a little longerK
Why this hurry sayL
I'm but half way through a measureK
Yet a little playL
Smiling in her wreath of flowersM
Is my love not fairN
See us in the charmed circleF
Flitting light as airN
Haste thee loved one for the musicI
Shall be hushed anonC
O sweet years of youth departedE
Whither are ye goneC
-
Gracious youth of mine so quicklyB
Hath it come to thisO
Lo where flowed the golden riverK
Yawns the black abyssO
Where oh where is my belovedE
Where the wreath of flowersM
Where oh where the merry fiddlerK
Where those happy hoursM
Shall I never hear the echoesP
Of those songs againC
Oh on what hills are they ringingI
O'er what sunny plainC
May not I from out the distanceQ
Cast one backward glanceR
On that fair and lost existenceQ
Youth's sweet dallianceQ
Foolish dreamer Time hath snatched itE
And tho' man imploreS
Joys that he hath reaped and garneredE
Bloom again no moreS
