From Dawn To Dawn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB ACAAD EFEEF AGAAG ABAAB HIHHJ KLKKM ANAAN

I bend o'er the wheel at my sewingA
I'm spent and I'm hungry for restB
No curse on the master bestowingA
No hell fires within me are glowingA
Tho' pain flares its fires in my breastB
-
I mar the new cloth with my weepingA
And struggle to hold back the tearsC
A fever comes over me sweepingA
My veins and all through me goes creepingA
A host of black terrors and fearsD
-
The wounds of the old years ache newlyE
The gloom of the shop hems me inF
But six o'clock signals come dulyE
O freedom seems mine again trulyE
Unhindered I haste from the dinF
-
-
-
Now home again ailing and shakingA
With tears that are blinding my eyesG
With bones that are creaking and breakingA
Unjoyful of rest merely takingA
A seat hoping never to riseG
-
I gaze round me none for a greetingA
By Life for the moment unpressedB
My poor wife lies sleeping and beatingA
A lip tune in dream false and fleetingA
My child mumbles close to her breastB
-
I look on them weeping in sorrowH
And think When the Reaper has comeI
When finds me no longer the morrowH
What aid then from whom will they borrowH
The crust of dry bread and the homeJ
-
What harbors that morrow I wonderK
For them when the breadwinner's goneL
When sudden and swift as the thunderK
The bread bond is broken asunderK
And friend in the world there is noneM
-
A numbness my brain is o'ertakingA
To sleep for a moment I dropN
Then start In the east light is breakingA
I drag myself ailing and achingA
Again to the gloom of the shopN
