To Kasbek Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB ADED AAFA GHIH JKFK GLFG EMFM NBOB FNEN

With winged footsteps now I hastenA
Unto the far cold North awayB
Kasbek thou watchman of the EastC
To thee my farewell greetings sayB
-
Since all eternity a turbanA
Snow white thy glorious brow has veiledD
The peace sublime about thy glacierE
The strife of man has ne'er assailedD
-
Accept my humble supplicationA
Hear thy submissive faithful sonA
To starry heights lift his entreatyF
To Allah's everlasting throneA
-
I do implore spice breathing coolnessG
Through sultry sun glow in the valeH
A stone for rest unto the pilgrimI
In whirling dust of desert galeH
-
Turn I implore the storm's hot hatredJ
The deadly thunderous lightning's courseK
In Dariel's wild pass protect meF
And my distracted trembling horseK
-
Yet one prayer more my heart audaciousG
Weeping lifts up in bodeful stressL
What if my native land forget meF
In my sad exile's lonelinessG
-
Will greeting me by name familiarE
My friend then open wide his armsM
Will e'en my brothers recognise meF
So changed by many griefs and harmsM
-
Perchance my foot will fall profaningN
Dust of those loved in youth's far dayB
The pure and noble deeply trustedO
Withered as Autumn leaves in MayB
-
O Kasbek then with earth o'erwhelm meF
Snow o'er thy weary wanderer backN
And blow away my dust and scatterE
Along thy rock ridged clefts lone trackN
