The Leaf Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD DEFG HIJK LMNO PQRS GTUH

A little oak leaf tore off from its branchA
Was driven o'er the steppe by a cruel galeB
Dried up and withered from the cold the heat and sorrowC
It finally alit by the Black Sea shoreD
-
A young plane tree stands by the Black Sea shoreD
A whispering wind strokes her green boughsE
On her green boughs sway heavenly birdsF
Singing the praises and fame of the queen of the seaG
-
The traveler lit at the soaring tree's rootsH
Anguished he pled for a moment's shelterI
And these were his words I am but a poor oak leafJ
Matured before my time in a grim homelandK
-
For ages I've wandered without a goal all aloneL
Without shade I withered without repose fadedM
Would you welcome this stranger among your emerald leavesN
I know many stories of wonder and wisdomO
-
But why do I need you the young tree repliesP
You are dusty and yellow ill suited to my wholesome young sonsQ
You've seen many things but what use do I have for your talesR
The heavenly birds have long wearied my earsS
-
O traveler Be on your way You are a stranger to meG
Beloved by the sun I bloom and shine for himT
My boughs are spread in the heavenly fieldsU
The cool sea refreshes and washes my rootsH
