The Dagger Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFEF GHIJ KLKL

I like you well O trusty dagger mineA
My comrade wrought of cool Damascus steelB
Forged were you by the Georgian with revenge in the mindC
By the Circassian free for war were you made keenD
-
A lily white hand it was gave you to meE
You were affection's keepsake its last giftF
Not blood but pearl like tears born of the agonyE
Of bitter parting down your blade ran swiftF
-
Her dark eyes rested full of secret painG
Of sadness and of mystery uponH
My face and like yourself when lit by flickering flameI
Now clouded and turned dull now glowed and shoneJ
-
O dagger love's mute pledge you will my trueK
Friend stay and an example set to me a wandererL
For faithful yes and firm of soul like youK
I'll be like you that tempered was by fireL
