The Beggar Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEFGHIH

By gates of an abode blessedA
A man stood asking for donationB
A beggar cruelly oppressedA
By hunger thirst and deprivationB
He asked just for a peace of breadC
And all his looks were full of anguishD
And was a cold stone laidE
Into his stretched arm thin and languishedF
Thus I prayed vainly for your loveG
With bitter tears pine and fervorH
Thus my best senses that have thrivedI
Were victimized by you foreverH
