Maydens why spare yeA
Or whether not dare yeA
Correct the blind ShooterB
Because wanton VENVSC
So oft that doth paine vsC
Is her Sonnes TutorB
-
Now in the SpringD
He proueth his WingD
The Field is his BowerB
And as the small BeeA
About flyeth heeA
From Flower to FlowerB
-
And wantonly rouesC
Abroad in the GrouesC
And in the Ayre houersC
Which when it him dewethE
His Fethers he mewethE
In sighes of true LouersC
-
And since doom'd by FateF
That well knew his HateF
That Hee should be blindeF
For very despiteF
Our Eyes be his WhiteF
So wayward his kindeF
-
If his Shafts loosingD
Ill his Mark choosingD
Or his Bow brokenG
The Moane VENVS makethE
And care that she takethE
Cannot be spokenG
-
To VULCAN commendingD
Her loue and straight sendingD
Her Doues and her SparrowesC
With Kisses vnto himH
And all but to woo himH
To make her Sonne ArrowesC
-
Telling what he hath doneG
Sayth she Right mine owne SonneI
In her Armes she him closesC
Sweetes on him fansC
Layd in Downe of her SwansC
His Sheets Leaues of RosesC
-
And feeds him with KissesC
Which oft when he missesC
He euer is frowardF
The Mothers o'r ioyingD
Makes by much coyingD
The Child so vntowardF
-
Yet in a fine NetF
That a Spider setF
The Maydens had caught himH
Had she not beene neere himH
And chanced to heare himH
More good they had taught himH
