Sonnets: Idea Xvi An Allusion To The Phoenix Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFEGG

'Mongst all the creatures in this spacious roundA
Of the birds' kind the phoenix is aloneB
Which best by you of living things is knownB
None like to that none like to you is foundA
Your beauty is the hot and splend'rous sunC
The precious spices be your chaste desireD
Which being kindled by that heavenly fireD
Your life so like the phoenix's begunC
Yourself thus burn d in that sacred flameE
With so rare sweetness all the heavens perfumingF
Again increasing as you are consumingF
Only by dying born the very sameE
And winged by fame you to the stars ascendG
So you of time shall live beyond the endG
