Sonnets: Idea Xlvii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCEFGFHIIIn pride of wit when high desire of fame | A |
Gave life and courage to my lab'ring pen | B |
And first the sound and virtue of my name | A |
Won grace and credit in the ears of men | B |
With those the throng d theatres that press | C |
I in the circuit for the laurel strove | D |
Where the full praise I freely must confess | C |
In heat of blood a modest mind might move | E |
With shouts and claps at every little pause | F |
When the proud round on every side hath rung | G |
Sadly I sit unmoved with the applause | F |
As though to me it nothing did belong | H |
No public glory vainly I pursue | I |
All that I seek is to eternise you | I |
