Sonnet Xxi: A Witless Galant Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFEFGHGHII

A witless gallant a young wench that woo'dA
Yet his dull spirit her not one jot could moveB
Entreated me as e'er I wish'd his goodC
To write him but one sonnet to his loveD
When I as fast as e'er my pen could trotE
Pour'd out what first from quick invention cameF
Nor never stood one word thereof to blotE
Much like his wit that was to use the sameF
But with my verses he his mistress wonG
Which doted on the dolt beyond all measureH
But see for you to Heav'n for phrase I runG
And ransack all Apollo's golden treasureH
Yet by my froth this fool his love obtainsI
And I lose you for all my love and painsI
