Sonnet Xiii: Letters And Lines Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBDEEDFGGFHI

To the ShadowA
-
Letters and lines we see are soon defac'dB
Metals do waste and fret with canker's rustC
The diamond shall once consume to dustC
And freshest colors with foul stains disgrac'dB
Paper and ink can paint but naked wordsD
To write with blood of force offends the sightE
And if with tears I find them all too lightE
And sighs and signs a silly hope affotdsD
O sweetest shadow how thou serv'st my turnF
Which still shalt be as long as there is sunG
Nor whilst the world is never shalt be doneG
Whilst moon shall shine or any fire shall burnF
That everything whence shadow doth proceedH
May in my shadow my love's story readI
