Idea Liii: To The River Ancor Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFGHIJ

Clear Ancor on whose silver sanded shoreA
My soul shrin'd saint my fair Idea liesB
O blessed brook whose milk white swans adoreA
Thy crystal stream refined by her eyesB
Where sweet myrrh breathing Zephyr in the springC
Gently distills his nectar dropping showersD
Where nightingales in Arden sit and singC
Amongst the dainty dew impearled flowersD
Say thus fair brook when thou shalt see thy queenE
Lo here thy shepherd spent his wand'ring yearsF
And in these shades dear nymph he oft hath beenG
And here to thee he sacrific'd his tearsH
Fair Arden thou my Tempe art aloneI
And thou sweet Ancor art my HeliconJ
