Rhyme Scheme: ABCD AEFG AHIJ KLFM ANOP QRST QUVW OUXY

Oh if a tree could wanderA
and move with foot and wingsB
It would not suffer the axe blowsC
and not the pain of sawsD
-
For would the sun not wanderA
away in every nightE
How could at ev'ry morningF
the world be lighted upG
-
And if the ocean's waterA
would not rise to the skyH
How would the plants be quickenedI
by streams and gentle rainJ
-
The drop that left its homelandK
the sea and then returnedL
It found an oyster waitingF
and grew into a pearlM
-
Did Yusaf not leave his fatherA
in grief and tears and despairN
Did he not by such a journeyO
gain kingdom and fortune wideP
-
Did not the Prophet travelQ
to far Medina friendR
And there he found a new kingdomS
and ruled a hundred landsT
-
You lack a foot to travelQ
Then journey into yourselfU
And like a mine of rubiesV
receive the sunbeams printW
-
Out of yourself such a journeyO
will lead you to your selfU
It leads to transformationX
of dust into pure goldY
