To Fausta Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDCDB EFGHIJF FKLMLMK

Joy comes and goes hope ebbs and flowsA
Like the waveB
Change doth unknit the tranquil strength of menC
Love lends life a little graceD
A few sad smiles and thenC
Both are laid in one cold placeD
In the graveB
-
Dreams dawn and fly friends smile and dieE
Like spring flowersF
Our vaunted life is one long funeralG
Men dig graves with bitter tearsH
For their dead hopes and allI
Maz'd with doubts and sick with fearsJ
Count the hoursF
-
We count the hours these dreams of oursF
False and hollowK
Shall we go hence and find they are not deadL
Joys we dimly apprehendM
Faces that smil'd and fledL
Hopes born here and born to endM
Shall we followK
