The Good Shepherd With The Kid Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA BBA CDE FDE

He saves the sheep the goats he doth not saveA
So rang Tertullian's sentence on the sideB
Of that unpitying Phrygian Sect which criedB
'Him can no fount of fresh forgiveness laveA
-
Who sins once washed by the baptismal wave '-
So spake the fierce Tertullian But she sighedB
The infant Church of love she felt the tideB
Stream on her from her Lord's yet recent graveA
-
And then she smiled and in the CatacombsC
With eye suffused but heart inspired trueD
On those walls subterranean where she hidE
-
Her head in ignominy death and tombsF
She her good Shepherd's hasty image drewD
And on his shoulders not a lamb a kidE
