Revolutions Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CBCB DBDB BEBF GHGH

Before man parted for this earthly strandA
While yet upon the verge of heaven he stoodB
God put a heap of letters in his handA
And bade him make with them what word he couldB
-
And man has turn'd them many times made GreeceC
Rome England France yes nor in vain essay'dB
Way after way changes that never ceaseC
The letters have combined something was madeB
-
But ah an inextinguishable senseD
Haunts him that he has not made what he shouldB
That he has still though old to recommenceD
Since he has not yet found the word God wouldB
-
And empire after empire at their heightB
Of sway have felt this boding sense come onE
Have felt their huge frames not constructed rightB
And droop'd and slowly died upon their throneF
-
One day thou say'st there will at last appearG
The word the order which God meant should beH
Ah we shall know that well when it comes nearG
The band will quit man's heart he will breathe freeH
