Fragment Of Chorus Of A Dejaneira Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGHIJK ELMNOP QRSTRUV WRXRYRR

O frivolous mind of manA
Light ignorance and hurrying unsure thoughtsB
Though man bewails you notC
How I bewail youD
-
Little in your prosperityE
Do you seek counsel of the GodsF
Proud ignorant self adored you live aloneG
In profound silence sternH
Among their savage gorges and cold springsI
Unvisited remainJ
The great oracular shrinesK
-
Thither in your adversityE
Do you betake yourselves for lightL
But strangely misinterpret all you hearM
For you will not put onN
New hearts with the inquirer's holy robeO
And purged considerate mindsP
-
And him on whom at the endQ
Of toil and dolour untoldR
The Gods have said that reposeS
At last shall descend undisturb'dT
Him you expect to beholdR
In an easy old age in a happy homeU
No end but this you praiseV
-
But him on whom in the primeW
Of life with vigour undimm'dR
With unspent mind and a soulX
Unworn undebased undecay'dR
Mournfully grating the gatesY
Of the city of death have for ever closedR
Him I count him well starr'dR
