Austerity Of Poetry Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA CDE CDE

That son of Italy who tried to blowA
Ere Dante came the trump of sacred songB
In his light youth amid a festal throngB
Sate with his bride to see a public showA
-
Fair was the bride and on her front did glowA
Youth like a star and what to youth belongB
Gay raiment sparkling gauds elation strongB
A prop gave way crash fell a platform loA
-
'Mid struggling sufferers hurt to death she layC
Shuddering they drew her garments off and foundD
A robe of sackcloth next the smooth white skinE
-
Such poets is your bride the Muse young gayC
Radiant adorn'd outside a hidden groundD
Of thought and of austerity withinE
