Sonnet Xxxviii: Oh Sigh Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEDED

Oh Sigh thou steal'st the herald of the breastA
The lover's fears the lover's pangs to tellB
Thou bid'st with timid grace the bosom swellB
Cheating the day of joy the night of restA
Oh lucid Tears with eloquence confestA
Why on my fading cheek unheeded dwellB
Meek as the dew drops on the flowret's bellB
By ruthless tempests to the green sod prestA
Fond sigh be hush'd congeal O slighted tearC
Thy feeble pow'rs the busy Fates controlD
Or if thy crystal streams again appearE
Let them like Lethe's oblivion rollD
For Love the tyrant plays when hope is nearE
And she who flies the lover chains the soulD
