Sonnet Xxi: Why Do I Live Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBABCBCBC

Why do I live to loath the cheerful dayA
To shun the smiles of Fame and mark the hoursB
On tardy pinions move while ceaseless show'rsB
Down my wan cheek in lucid currents strayA
My tresses all abound nor gems displayA
Nor scents Arabian on my path no flow'rsB
Imbibe the morn's resuscitating pow'rsB
For one blank sorrow saddens all my wayA
As slow the radiant Sun of reason roseB
Through tears my dying parents saw it shineC
A brother's frailties swell'd the tide of woesB
And keener far maternal griefs were mineC
Phaon if soon these weary eyes shall closeB
Oh must that task that mournful task be thineC
