Sonnet Xvii: Love Steals Unheeded Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCE

Love steals unheeded o'er the tranquil mindA
As Summer breezes fan the sleeping mainB
Slow through each fibre creeps the subtle painB
'Till closely round the yielding bosom twin'dA
Vain is the hope the magic to unbindA
The potent mischief riots in the brainB
Grasps ev'ry thought and burns in ev'ry veinB
'Till in the heart the Tyrant lives enshrin'dA
Oh Victor strong bending the vanquish'd frameC
Sweet is the thraldom that thou bid'st us proveD
And sacred is the tear thy victims claimC
For blest are those whom sighs of sorrow moveD
Then nymphs beware how ye profane my nameC
Nor blame my weakness till like me ye loveE
