Sonnet Viii: Why, Through Each Aching Vein Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEDCD

Why through each aching vein with lazy paceA
Thus steals the languid fountain of my heartB
While from its source each wild convulsive startB
Tears the scorch'd roses from my burning faceA
In vain O Lesbian Vales your charms I traceA
Vain is the poet's theme the sculptor's artB
No more the Lyre its magic can impartB
Though wak'd to sound with more than mortal graceA
Go tuneful maids go bid my Phaon proveC
That passion mocks the empty boast of fameD
Tell him no joys are sweet but joys of loveE
Melting the soul and thrilling all the frameD
Oh may th'ecstatic thought in bosom moveC
And sighs of rapture fan the blush of shameD
