Sonnet To Ingratitude Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEDE FFGG HIHIJI

He that's ungrateful has no guilt but oneA
All other crimes may pass for virtues in himB
YOUNGC
-
-
I COULD have borne affliction's sharpest thornD
The sting of malice poverty's deep woundE
The sneers of vulgar pride the idiot's scornD
Neglected Love false Friendship's treach'rous soundE
-
I could with patient smile extract the dartF
Base calumny had planted in my heartF
The fangs of envy agonizing painG
ALL ALL nor should my steady soul complainG
-
E'en had relentless FATE with cruel pow'rH
Darken'd the sunshine of each youthful dayI
While from my path she snatch'd each transient flow'rH
Not one soft sigh my sorrow should betrayI
But where INGRATITUDE'S fell poisons pourJ
HOPE shrinks subdued and LIFE'S BEST JOYS DECAYI
