Sonnet To Amicus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFGHH

WHOE'ER thou art whose soul enchanting songA
Steals on the sullen ear of pensive woeB
To whom the sounds of melody belongA
Sounds that can more than human bliss bestowB
-
Like the wak'd God of day whose rays pervadeC
The spangled veil of night and fling their firesD
O'er the cold bosom of the em'rald gladeC
While bath'd in tears the virgin orb retiresE
-
Thy glowing verse illumes my path of careF
And warms each torpid fibre of my heartG
And tho' my MUSE exults thy smiles to shareF
She feels the force of thy superior artG
YET shall she proudly own her timid laysH
The cherish'd darlings of thy ENVIED PRAISEH
