Sonnet -- The Snow-drop Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBC DEEE FEEFGG

THOU meekest emblem of the infant yearA
Why droops so cold and wan thy fragrant headB
Ah why retiring to thy frozen bedB
Steals from thy silky leaves the trembling tearC
-
Day's op'ning eye shall warm thy gentle breastD
Revive thy timid charms and sickly hueE
Thy drooping buds shall drink the morning dewE
And bloom again by glowing PHOEBUS drestE
-
Or should the midnight damp with icy breathF
Nip thy pale check and bow thee to the groundE
Or the bleak winds thy blossoms scatter roundE
And all thy modest beauties fade to deathF
E'en in decay thy spotless sweets shall riseG
And midst AURORA'S TEARS evap'rate IN THE SKIESG
