Canzonet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABACAC DEDEAFAF

SLOW the limpid currents twiningA
Brawl along the lonely dellB
'Till in one wild stream combiningA
Nought its rapid course can quellB
So at first LOVE'S poisons stealingA
Round the heart unheeded playC
While we hope our pangs concealingA
Vainly hope to check his swayC
-
If amidst the glassy riverD
Aught impedes its placid courseE
Ah it glides more swift than everD
While opposing gives it forceE
So when HOPE and PASSION blendingA
Warm the feeble trembling frameF
REASON sickens by contendingA
Fanning only feeds the flameF
