To My Niece, Mrs. M.a. Caldwell Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED FGHGIDJD KLMLNDOD PQRQSDTD UAUALDVD W

When days are dark and spirits lowA
And hope desponding standsB
What comfort these few words bestowA
My times are in thy handsB
That thought should every fear allayC
And every cloud dispelD
For we are in the hands of OneE
Who doeth all things wellD
-
He clothes the lily of the fieldF
Paints the gay tulip's leafG
Hears the young ravens when they cryH
And hastes to their reliefG
That little sparrow in thy pathI
He noticed when it fellD
Numbereth the hairs upon thy headJ
And doeth all things wellD
-
Then say not when with cares oppressedK
He hath forsaken meL
For had thy father loved thee lessM
Would he so chasten theeL
A friend he takes a Husband tooN
A Child with him to dwellD
Selects the day the place the hourO
He doeth all things wellD
-
His power is heard when thunders rollP
Felt when the cold wind blowsQ
Seen in the vivid lightning's flashR
And in the blushing roseQ
He cares for monarch on his throneS
For hermit in his cellD
For sailor on the mighty deepT
He doeth all things wellD
-
He raiseth one to high estateU
He brings another lowA
This year an empire doth createU
The next may overthrowA
What he may plan for you or meL
While here on earth we dwellD
We know not but of this I'm sureV
He doeth all things wellD
