To My Husband Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE BGHG IJKJ LMNM OHPQ R

Just two and forty years have passedA
Since we a youthful pairB
Together at the altar stoodC
And mutual vows pledged thereB
-
Our lives have been a checkered sceneD
Since that midsummer's eveE
Much good received our hearts to cheerF
And much those hearts to grieveE
-
Children confided to our careB
Hath God in kindness givenG
Of whom five still on earth remainH
And two we trust in heavenG
-
How many friends of early daysI
Have fallen by our sideJ
Shook by some blast like autumn leavesK
They withered drooped and diedJ
-
But still permitted hand in handL
Our journey we pursueM
And when we're weary cheered by glimpseN
Of better land in viewM
-
We may not hope in this low worldO
Much longer to remainH
But oh there's rapture in the thoughtP
That we may meet againQ
