November Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JHKH LIGI GMNM OPQP RSDS TIUI G

Remember the poor in the dark chilly dayA
When November's loud winds are fierce blowingB
Remember the poor at thy plentiful boardC
When the fire on thy bright hearth is glowingB
-
Remember the poor in yon damp dismal shedD
Without food fire or clothing to warm themE
And not like the Priest or the Levite pass byF
But Samaritan like stop and cheer themE
-
Remember the slave the poor down trodden slaveG
And do all in thy power to relieve himH
And when from oppression he strives to be freeI
Do thou open thy gate to receive himH
-
For what saith the Lord is thy duty to suchJ
To his master thou shalt not return himH
But give him a home near thy own if he likesK
And be sure not to vex or oppress himH
-
When parents or children or brethren you meetL
In our happy New England and freeI
Then remember the slave the heart broken slaveG
For thy brother thy brother is heI
-
Remember him also when prayer for thyselfG
In affliction's dark hour doth ascendM
And when crying to God the father of allN
Let his wants with thine own kindly blendM
-
And at the last day when the rich and the poorO
Shall alike by the Judge be regardedP
When master and slave shall appear before GodQ
And a sentence impartial awardedP
-
The cup of cold water He will not forgetR
But with other good acts bring to mindS
When naked ye clothed me when hungry ye fedD
Will be uttered in accents most kindS
-
But when blessed Saviour ah when was the timeT
That we fed clothed or visited theeI
Such acts He replies to my poor brethren doneU
I consider as done unto meI
