Margaret's Remembrance Of Lightfoot Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCCB DEFGGFAAHFFH IJKILK

My beautiful steedA
'Tis painful indeedA
To think we are parted foreverB
That on no sunny dayC
With light spirits and gayC
Over hills far awayC
We shall joyously travel togetherB
-
Thy soft glossy maneD
I shall ne'er see againE
Nor thy proudly arched neck 'gain beholdF
Nor admire that in theeG
Which so seldom we seeG
A kind gentle spirit yet boldF
Thou wert pleasant indeedA
My darling grey steedA
In my mind's eye thou'rt beautiful stillH
For when thou wert oldF
Thy heart grew not coldF
Its warm current time never could chillH
-
Not a stone marks the spotI
Where they laid thee LightfootJ
And no fence to enclose thee aroundK
But what if there's notI
Deep engraved on my heartL
Thy loved image may ever be foundK
