Acrostic Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDDE FFGHHA IIJKKJLM N

For thee my son a mother's earnest prayerA
Rises to Heaven each day from heart sincereB
Anxiously seeking what concerns thee mostC
Not merely earthly good for thee she praysD
Knowledge or wealth or fame or length of daysD
What shall these profit if the soul be lostE
-
In this life we find alternate day and nightF
Not always darkness sure not always lightF
'Tis well it should be so we're travellers hereG
Home that sweet home the Christian's place of restH
Rises by faith to view when most distressedH
Oh this life past mayst thou find entrance thereA
-
Perplexed distressed sick or by friends betrayedI
Beset with snares deprived of human aidI
In all thy sorrows whatsoe'er they beJ
Go to the Saviour tell him all thy needK
Entreat his pity he's a friend indeedK
Lay hold by faith on Him and he will succor theeJ
Oh do not live for this dull world aloneL
When with the Angels thou mayst find a homeM
